Reflections on Thanksgiving

It's been a quiet Thanksgiving weekend. The cooking and festivities are done and so the long weekend gives way to reflection. We decided to forgo the big extended family dinner in lieu of a safe celebration at home with just our family. It turned out to be really nice and relaxing without the normal drama or stress of a big gathering. I quite liked it. We sat together toasting to our essential workers, from farm workers to grocery store workers, and every one in between. This Thanksgiving is different from most. It is literally a time to be thankful for not only the food on our table but the fact that we are healthy and have a place to be safe together during COVID-19. We are so fortunate. I am humbled by that fact and give thanks every day.
